Mongolia (20 Aug 06 - 03 Sep 06)

 

This country was very special to us... not only are the Mongolian culture, people and landscape amazing, chilled out and unforgetable (you can read all about it here) but we also had the chance to see and hear (after 3 hours of wrestling in the crowd but in the front row!) the Dalai Lama during his official visit to Mongolia!

 

 

 

 

Beginning of our journey in this amazing country (Beijing, the Yellow River and Sichuan province)... followed by a nice westernised break in Hong Kong & Macau. The end of our stay in China was all about minorities and rural settings in the Guizhou province!

 

 

 

 

 

Our journey into Tibet was an adventure of its own and we spent our time exploring Lhasa and its surroundings. The second part of our stay in this fascinating country was spent on the road to the Himalayas and Friendship Highway. Tibetan people deserve a photo album of their own...

 

 

 

 

 

One of our favorite countries so far: there is plenty to see and do! Photos and summary of our stay in this gorgeous land. We had the chance to visit Kathmandu, the Annapurnas, Chitwan National Park in the south and raft along the Sun Kosi to the east and the Indian border.

 

 

 

 

 

This country is so diverse and full of traditions, colours, smells, people and sites that attempting to cover it all in 2 months was impossible. We concentrated our travels on the east and south of India (leaving the rest for some other time...): we first went to the states of West Bengal, Orissa and the South around Bangalore. The rest of our stay was spent in the gorgeous states of Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Goa.

 

 

 

 

 

Family time on a tropical island in the middle of the Indian Ocean! Mauritius had a lot to offer and we enjoyed our holiday from the travelling! Pictures and summary of our relaxing stay on one of the main Mascarene Island.

 

 

 

 

 

Our last stop in South Asia: The Pearl of the Indian Ocean! And the feeling of having fully explored this beautiful island, from the Ancient Cities to the Hill Country and let's not forget the Southern Beaches! Sri Lanka in all its splendor!

 

 

 

 

We found the true spirit of South-East Asia in this country where people keep smiling and singing (all the time!) despite the tyranny of the military junta. A real travelling experience and some great memories, tales and pictures!
